If you could have any job in the world what would it be?

College is a place where students go to learn and grow. Granted, we all inherit textbook knowledge while studying here at our beloved High Point University. However, we also learn life skills that will help us in the near future and beyond. We all have dreams, and we all dream about what we would like to do with what we learn here at HPU. Sometimes a lot of individuals don’t even end up using their major for their actual job in the future.
Various students in the HPU community from all grades commented on what their dreams jobs would be. HPU offers such a wide range of majors that many individuals have dreams from being a professional actor or actress to being an accountant for a major firm in a big city.
Maddie Steiner, freshman, has a very unique hope for her future – “being a theater major, I hope to land a job somewhere in New York. Anything to get my foot in the door.”
Others have dreams that aren’t what they are studying at all.
“If I was smart enough I would be a surgeon,” said junior Graham Owen. “It requires an in depth knowledge of the field of science and helping people.”
A surgeon’s job truly is intense and only meant for certain people, but that doesn’t mean you can’t reach for the stars in what you are good at. Many individuals also want to benefit the community in the long-run by running their own animal care shelter. Adam Hohlbbein, Class of 2020, has aspirations of doing just that – “I really want to work with animals after I get out of college, so I thought the best way to do that was to open an animal shelter. I figured I would need to know about animals, therefore I am a science major.”

“Lab tech. Mostly because lab techs get to do cool things with biology and if I could get to work with stem cell research, that would be awesome. Plus, they make a lot of money.”

“Forensic scientist for the FBI. A lot of my family members have actually been in the FBI and I really enjoy science, so I wanted to incorporate that into the same field.”
