A New Tattoo Shop Opens in High Point

Local tattoo artist Jason Tyler recently opened a new tattoo shop in the High Point area. Tyler said, “We’re looking forward to relaxing and concentrating on creating unique, artistic ideas that make this business fun!”

Tyler previously own Five Points Tattoo but decided to take the leap a few months ago and open a new shop. “We moved to a larger, nicer building that’s a little more customer friendly. The extra space allows each artist to have their own room to tattoo and draw. We also have a dedicated area for piercings that allows for more privacy,” said Tyler.

Tyler and his artists are no strangers to serving customers from High Point University and young people from the High Point community.“We see so many young people today with tattoos because it’s just simply an outlet of expression. As we reach maturity in our lives, certain things make an impression strong enough to be remembered forever,” he said.

“I was personally attracted to the art of tattooing because I have a natural attraction to mechanical things. My artistic abilities and natural knack for machinery sort of merged and worked out well.”Tyler has 14 years of tattooing under his belt. Trough the years of experience, he has learned a few things.

Tyler continued, “Tattooing requires a certain ear, eye, and hand coordination that just doesn’t come easy for most people. The machines, power supplies, and other equipment require a constant monitoring and adjustment.”

Tyler is unable to pick his favorite tattoo he has done over the years, but he recalls doing a “fine dining” tattoo on an HPU student. Some students have relied on Tyler, and the artists that work alongside him, for tattoos.

“We all learned the art of tattooing by perfecting fundamental variables of art and design. Each artist must be capable of ne line and attention to detail,” explains Tyler. “It’s always fun to break away from that on larger tattoos which allow us to show o our ability to create form and dimension in the skin.”

Tyler goes on to explain the creation and thought process behind his new shop. “ The name ‘21 Aces’ came to me in a dream. Perhaps because the address is 2107 and those numbers are always a good gamble. There’s no better hand than pocket aces. Ace is also a symbol of high quality and excellence,” said Tyler. Tyler says he ensures excellence to each and every customer. The staff at 21 Aces Tattoo Co. is eager for the new school year to start and they are looking forward to serving more students.
