High Point University has various dining options, but students should consider the variety of restaurants off-campus. Here are several options I recommend that are near HPU’s campus.

Boba House (33 Tate Street, Greensboro, NC)

This is a hidden gem located in downtown Greensboro. This cozy restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat around the Triad area.It is a bit of a hike to get to,but the food makes up completely for the time it takes to get there. It also has a warm and inviting staff. The menu offers a variety of Asian-inspired vegan and vegetarian dishes that even a meat-lover would enjoy. My personal favorite is the Boba Pho, a Vietnamese street food favorite filled with fresh broth, flat rice noodles, cilantro garnish, Thai basil, cilantro, bean sprouts and white onion, topped off with lemon, sweet hoisin and sriracha. The rest of the menu features items such as Vietnamese spring rolls, lettuce wraps, sandwiches and another personal favorite of mine, bubble tea. Almost every time I have been here, I always get the avocado bubble tea with soy milk. For those who are vegan, you can substitute the milk with soymilk, which I would say tastes better.

Blue Water Grille (126 East State Ave, High Point, NC)

Blue Water Grille is another of my favorite places to eat in High Point, and it is only a few minutes away from campus. Patrons immediately meet the friendly and welcoming staff who work hard to create an environment perfect for both social or romantic occasions. Every time my parents visit, we always go to Blue Water Grille. Some of the staff members even remember us from the previous times we have gone. The cuisine at Blue Water Grilled consists of both fresh meat and fish that incorporates French and Asian techniques. One of my favorite dishes are the brussels sprouts, which in my opinion, is the best brussels sprouts I have ever had in this world. Some of my other favorites include: ahi tuna, crab cakes, scallops, tuna, and the vegetable pasta. This place is almost always busy during family weekends or move-in day for students, so make sure and call ahead before going.

Hops Burger Bar (2419 Spring Garden St, Greensboro, NC)

Hops Burger Bar is definitely a favorite for many High Point University students, especially for those seeking vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dining options. The atmosphere, food and service will exceed all your expectations. Even the name of the burgers will make your mouth salivate, some of which include: The Hops Classic, North Carolinian, The Spicy Goat, the Brooklyn or the College Hill Blues. You have the option to choose from a variety of burgers or you can make your own. Do not forget about pairing your burger with some of Hop’s infamous sides. Burgers and sandwiches come with you choice of: fries, chips, sweet potato fries, zucchini-carrot chips, onion rings, veggies or a side salad. Kozzy’s Grille (1179 E. Lexington Ave, High Point, NC)

As an avid falafel fan, I find myself frequently ordering deliveries from Kozzy’s Grille. This restaurant serves almost anything anyone could enjoy. Not only is it cheap, but the delivery time is extremely fast. When I order from here, I always get their pita bread with hummus and a side of falafel. If I am really hungry and need a quick dinner when I am studying, I get two orders of their falafel. Some of my other favorite dishes/sides include their Greek fries, gyro or Greek salad. If you are not a fan of Greek food, they have burgers, hot dogs and other typical American food. Whether you need a quick meal or you want to dine in, Kozzy’s Grille is always a great option in a convenient place.

Rice Paper (906 Greensboro Rd, High Point, NC)

Similarly to my feelings to- ward falafel, I am a huge fan of Vietnamese food, particularly pho. Pho is a traditional Vietnamese soup normally made with a bone-beef broth, banh pho noodles and thinly sliced beef. It is usually served with bean sprouts and fresh herbs mixed in with the soup. Rice Paper’s delivery service never fails to please me. I order from here at least once a week when I was up late studying. The portions at Rice Paper are very generous and always leave me feeling satisfied and full. While I typically only have my usual order of pho with rare round steak, brisket, and tripe, there is a plentiful amount of options to choose from. Be sure to pair your soup with some of their infamous Vietnamese fresh milkshakes, especially the avocado milkshake. Ordering from Rice Paper is extremely easy, and you can do it from your phone using Door Dash. If you have not used Door Dash before, you can receive a coupon for your first purchase.
